I haven’t laughed this hard in a while.
Good job Bradley Brownell, good job.

Age and obesity are risk factors so he ain’t wrong and I say that as an old fat guy.

My last encounter with BB ended in him ignoring facts and avoiding me. Really strange encounter. Just wanted him to correct an obvious e rror in his article. Provided him with evidence a nd everything after he tried to say I was wrong.

I commented about Sturgis before, folks who ride motorcycles are risk taker
s by definition
. Covid ain’t got nothin
on motorcycles for killing folks.

I'm not a big fan of his, but yeah, that headline is on point!

Can a person still donate organs if they test positive for COVID-19?
![]() 08/04/2020 at 23:43 |

Transplant policies would probably prohibit it, though if I was in need of a liver or heart, I’d take the chance of death with COVID over the certain death of not getting a replacement organ.
I’m reminded of an episode of House MD, where they had a patient who needed a heart and they found a match in a braindead
middle aged obese car crash victim
who had gonorrhea. Official policy wouldn’t allow use of the heart due to multiple risk factors but as House said, “Big fat sloppy heart is better than no heart”

Automotiv e journalism is supposed to be rock and roll and embrace the subculture, not act like a worried mom. J alopnik is for sweater-vesters .

We need Wes Siler with a “riding without a helmet is cool and good” take.

Journos are far to mighty to int eract with readers. That would mean stoo ping too low.

I would bet riding without a helmet is statistically more deadly than covid 19 if you spin it the right way.

He’s one of the touchiest, most thin-skinned bloggers to write for Jalopnik. From what I’ve seen, only Justin Westbrook is more sensitive & ban-happy.

Mighty generous use of the term “journo” in regards to Brownell.

I think even he did
n’t describe himself as such. If I remember the quip when badgered by a
commenter,
he described himself
part
writing entertainer and left leaning
op-ed.
I
t’s kind of a shame because he’s capable of some really good pieces (like when he’s given a moto to review), but he sways mainly
to grating
report
publishing
. His Covid related
pieces have been nothing but doom-
scroll.

I’ve grudgingly found common ground with him on some of his motorcycle pieces, but his approach/attitude typically makes it difficult. He’s not nearly a skilled enough writer to make an antagonistic approach entertaining, and when he gets (easily) baited in the comments, he’ s as likely to put someone into the greys as he is to engage. In the cases of shitty ad hominem attacks? sure, dismiss away, but if you’re (notionally, at least ) a journalist, being able to defend your position against good faith counterarguments without sarcasm is a key skill . He needs to take a lesson from David Tracy in that regard.
Years ago, Brownell contributed to Hooniverse occasionally; I think that’s where I first read him. I don’t know what happened over the years, but when his byline started appearing on the FP here, I kept thinking “this can’t be the same guy whose stuff I enjoyed on Hooniverse, can it?”

I wish he was able to do more motorcycle stuff. That’s clearly what he’s absolutely the best at.
Definitely better than this . Final drive gush in heavy rain seems like a good way to die and turn people off from motorcycling.

My home town is about the same size as Sturgis. A couple dozen extra people threw the hospital for a loop, they’re boned.

His article headlines are so clickbaity and I’ve pointed out many inaccuracies in his “stories” lately. I really won’t click on any of his articles anymore. Even if I agree with the premise.

He has an interesting life, so I gave him a follow on Instagram. Here’s one of his posts in response to the looting/destruction:
Violence has been a part of America just as long as racism. Deny people a voice and they will still make themselves heard. We should be better, and yet we’re not. Burn this shit down.

I can’t
get on board with encouraging
violence and destruction.

He kept replying to me until I shared an irrefutable piece of evidence. A li teral data sheet published by IMSA that showed the statistic I was referring to... three times over! He ignored me after that and never changed his error.

I asked David Tracy why he looked like such a wiener once. He laughed and said he’s often told he looks Rick Moranis. Much respect for him after that.
